Calligrapher

I am an experienced calligrapher and Chinese ink painter, and I am currently also a drawing teacher. My recent projects include hosting TV calligraphy teaching programs and participating in various art exhibitions. In recent years, I have also traveled to Japan to join cat-themed exhibitions and art shows, where I connected with many fellow cat lovers.

My journey of painting cats began at home after I adopted three adorable former stray cats. Living with them every day, their playful gestures, unique personalities, and quiet companionship became a constant source of inspiration. What started as a few sketches has naturally grown into a large body of work. Cats inspire me not only because of my love for them, but also for the calm and comfort they bring to people.

I admire their spontaneity and mischievousness. “Freedom Cat” is the name of my series and the theme of this exhibition. In Japanese, “freedom cat” also refers to a stray cat. Although strays may face uncertain futures, they live freely and fully — sunbathing, wandering, and enjoying life as if nothing else matters. They remind us of an important message: Carpe Diem — seize the day.

Graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2007 with a Marketing degree, I worked in the toy design industry for 15 years before turning to art full-time. In 2018, I founded CatrabbitSky Chinese Ink Painting Studio and completed a Diploma in Chinese Ink Painting at CUSCS.

My first solo exhibition “Freedom Cat” was held in 2019, followed by “Freedom Cat’s Secret Language” at Hong Kong Eslite in 2021, and “Meeting, Understanding, Accepting” in 2023 and “Cat pass away but still alive” in 2025 . My works have also been shown internationally, including the Tokyo Tower Art Fair, the All About Cats Festival in Osaka, and the Art Island Akane Biennale in Japan, where in 2023 my painting “Pink Tutu” received a Special Award. In the same year, my painting “Lay Down” received the Finalist Award at the Circle Foundation Exhibition in Miami.

I have been interviewed by Line Style HK and Japanese celebrity Maiko Kawakami’s YouTube channel, and invited to teach on ViuTV’s “Art Like Base Camp”. Beyond exhibitions, I collaborate with global brands and media such as Tiffany & Co., DIOR, clé de peau, Under Armour, La Prairie, Lee Gardens, Octopus, ViuTV, Line, and NPV, combining calligraphy with contemporary cultural projects.
